A brief promo on upcoming “The Hammer” film shown all over the country among the Deaf schools and community events! I had an opportunity to watch the movie and I was truly impressed on the whole thing: editing, filming, and how they use Deaf characters in the film. Kudos to producers, directors, actors and actresses!

The movie shows that any deaf actor and deaf actress can do as well as hearing actor and actress do, but I am deaf and understand the action of deaf actor and actress with their face and body languages. Congradulation to the excellent movie which shows to the whole world how deaf people can do anything except hearing.

I am a hearing person minoring in sign language and i believe this movie looks very inspiring. I believe deaf actors and actress perform much better because the emotion they show is so much more believable because they are required to use emotion in their language. I look forward to see how this movie does and to actually see it myself!

Wow this looks like a great film! The production appears really good. I agree that deaf actors and actresses are so believable because of their ability to effectively use emotion when portraying someone or telling a story. I was reading the reviews from the film festivals and they are all really good. It looks really inspiring, I know that wrestling is one of the hardest and most challenging sports to play and train for. To have a career record of 89-3 is unreal! It’s really cool to see the actual clips of him too.

I am glad there are movies being made to show the world that deaf people are able to accomplish just as much as hearing people. I too am minoring in ASL and in one of my classes, we watched a documentary on “Dummy” Hoy who was a deaf baseball player with extreme talent, so it’s cool to see deaf people dominating other sports such as wrestling, as well! This movie looks excellent about a deaf athlete who is very driven! I would definitely like to see it!

We showed that movie in our classroom several times now, the students like it a lot. It’s nice to see some inspiration in the media.

    Joey,

You are an easy sell. I found it hard to buy Russell Harvard as a wrestler. He simply doesn’t look like a wrestler. Wrestlers generally have some muscles. Russell has none. That ruined the movie for me.

The guy who acts Jay was overacting through the entire movie.

In fact there was a lot of overacting period. As Jason Alexander’s book/phamlet in Curb Your Enthusiasm says, its important to act while looking like you’re not acting. That did not happen in this movie. Everyone looked like they were trying hard to act.

    Jesse
