Inspired: The Art of ASL in Milwaukee - See you there!!!
In Milwaukee on Saturday, September 27, they will host a special event, “Inspired: The Art of ASL” where they bring in many ASL performers and presenters to celebrate ASL. They asked me to join their festival to talk about the American Sigh Language in depth. If you are in Milwaukee area, come and join the Festival!! I look forward meeting many of you!
My presentation summary: In his presentation, Joey Baer, one of the leading ASL vloggers, will discuss how ASL has inspired millions of people and their families. However, ASL still does not have full equality and respect afforded to other languages. It is widely known that early exposure to ASL increases Deaf AND hearing children’s cognitive, reading, and speaking skills. Joey will point out that it is time to standardize ASL in the Deaf Education system and beyond. Joey will also address ways we can attain full acceptance of and respect for our precious language, ASL, which has inspired our lives.
