Eloquently shared, wow! I do enjoy your vlogs and it’s been long overdue. I’m glad to view it once again.

I am fascinated by left-hand signers when they use their left hand as dominant. I think because left-hand users, who are deaf, are rare πŸ™‚

    I’m a left-handed…but I’m nowhere as smart as Amy!!

    That was… *golf handwaving* !!!

It did make me think alot of what I’ve said in the past and on certain blogs… I’m not too proud of that, but tomorrow is another day!

But thanks for always opening our eyes – and hands!! πŸ™‚

    Unity for all!!

Well-organized, well-delivered, and well-intended! Superb! I thought that Amy could’ve made a more impact if she could conclude her vlog concisely with some pictures she introduced in the opening. Otherwise, I was impressed by her thoughtfulness.

    Hi Amy,

Hope my post, “Life Imitates Art That I Found Myself Smiling…” made this AM inspired you to do a vlog.

In fact, it is a quote by infamous Irish writer, Oscar Wilde and I played with it after discussing with my Irish husband who has an extensive knowlwdge in Irish literature. We came up with the title for my post at my bedside this morning (I was sick this morning).

The actual quote is ” Life imitates art far more than art imitates Life.”

    Gotcha?

Yes, I am fortunate for having such a wonderful husband. We always have “editorial” meeting, be it in hot tub, in bed, at the dining room, or any room you can think of! We are like a being of two minds.

If you need help with some ideas for titling your posts, feel free to ask me and Bill. We will always come up with a clever one! πŸ™‚

Pic of me? Oh, god. πŸ™‚

But good video as always, Amy. You outdid yourself as ever!

It is interesting to note that my blog has provide both positive and negative aspects of what had transpired in Deaf Communities — but very vocal few ones refused to acknowledge the positive aspects of my blog from day one.

That is fine with me. At least, I’m comforted by a lot of emails supporting my back.

That was excellent work.. truly excellent and so eloguent! Your messages were precise and right on the mark pertaining to the current issues in the deaf community (and also in the wake of a recent incident within a deaf blog.)

One thing is evident – work is needed to erase the concept of ‘elitism’ – regardless of its allusion to social stratification (positions, level of income, etc etc). All too often, this is where the age-old ‘crab theory’ has come into play.

    Why?

Not only that, this appears to give some people the opportunity to ‘fire back’ with their concept of wittism (from their perspective). If only one would just think before speaking out, IF there is a need for it.

In that, I agree with one of Amy’s remarks – a meeting of the minds and an exchange of opinions.

Keep it up! Joey, I have meant to commend you on your blog/vlog site.. excellent and inspiring . Please keep up the good work.

Thank you to everyone who made positive and insightful comments to my vlog. You have inspired me and I am so happy that this vlog inspired you.

Please mention this vlog to your friends, colleagues, co-workers, teachers and professionals.

I want to share my plan what I am going to do with this vlog, I am in process of getting this voice-interpreted and open captioned to bring this vlog to the wider and broader audience.

The information and content are so valuable for people to see it, learn and understand. The best part is that when a viewer understand this, and finally put in action. That is a successful vlog!

I sincerely hope that I can see the increase of action-focused blogs and inspiring vlogs to help to unify all of us with respect, dignity and courage to share opinions and views without any retaliation.

Thank you again for kind words.

Lastly, a huge, heartfelt and warmest thanks to Joey Baer to have me as his guest vlogger, and posting my vlog on his website.

    Warmest,
    Amy Cohen Efron

    Amy-

Your vlog has been great with innovative ideas of your different analogies, perspectives, opinions, and many things that you share with your new concepts of deaf people, community, and culture. More like a “newsmagazine” as well as Deaf Mosiac. More episodes forthcoming to entertain! I absolutely agreed with your comment on your vlog that will lure our community to get together and share many things to provide with different categories to accomplish.

    To Nick in #18,

I am in total agreement with your comment. Let us write to Jill Bradbury (email address is as follows:
Jill.Bradbury@Gallaudet.edu) and persuade her to invite our talented young Amy Cohen Efron to the Blogging-Vblogging Conference. The Gallaudet community needs to hear her very original thoughts.

    To Joey,

You are a genius for recognising Amy’s talent!
Hope to see more vblogs by Amy on your blog.

    Merci bcp!

Bonne année à tous et à toutes 2007!

I saw pics of Ridor and Jamie. Well, there might be the biggest thread of the year 2007. At the end of this year, we will look back and laugh so hard.

Amy, well said. That is what the Bloggers and Vloggers are all about. Yet, we should all treat professionally.

Hey, Amy I truly love your famous videos! Keep it up.

Amy, well expressed and you are impressive too! Wow! I look forward to seeing more of your vlogs. I agree with you about Freedom of Speech with some restrictions. I am learning to do them too. It is hurtful to see our community going too far and attacked on others i.e. Ridor when he simply as for donation, Steve Hlibok with ugly attacks solely because he gave the message which he thought he had understood in the first place and others. It is truly unacceptable and I am sure your vlog will educate many people like you did with me. πŸ™‚ More vlogs from you, please!

Amy, many thanks for taking the initiative to address this issue. It has made me sad the past few days to see such negative, disrespectful comment posting on various blogs/vlogs, especially name bashing. It has left such a sick feeling to my stomach. Such comments are unproductive and hurtful. The deaf community can only move forward if we think positive and work together instead of seeking to drag each other down. We should not tolerate or give people a forum for such negative or disrespectful behavior because if we do so, we allow it to prosper. (my opinion) Joey, glad you chose not to publish a negative comment keeping dialogue productive and respectful. And lastly Joey, many thanks for all you do with this vlog. I refer to it first thing every time. I am deeply appreciative! πŸ™‚ Keep it up!

    Amy,

You have reached to a greater audience than you have imagined! After sharing your vlog with my high school students, your comments led them to re-analyze themselves as a deaf person and as a member of deaf community. They are now motivated to do their own vlogs!
I’m looking forward to see more v-logs coming, especially from the younger generations. Thanks so much! You rock!

Wow.. That was a great vlog, and it hit home! I loved the way how Amy started the vlog with a concept and then drilled down to what the issue is and how it can be resolved. Amy, you definitely should hold workshops like that for both deafies and hearies. It is wonderful seeing people like Amy who “GET IT” Amy, I also loved your past videos especially about JKF πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Wow, well done job in showing what we could do with this new vlog/blog medium that is now spreading thru the deaf communities now. I just recently got on the bandwagon and become attracted to those deaf people’s vlogs among many websites that I just found via Internet. I do agree that deaf communities have become so fragmented and using the medium to extend their own immature behavior to negatively influence a person’s opinion about a certain person mentioned in vlog/blog. You pointed out libel, slander, and mob action as the restrictions of Freedom of Speech as spelled out in the Bill of Rights amendements to the US Consititution. Unfortunately, people will do that by using anonymous route and difficult to prosecut due to varying state laws when a person is in the another state. All we need to do is to foster harmony environment and face each other like a man or woman. Discuss the issues with the person u have issue with and learn why they differ. Maybe they will mingle or remain apart but will definitely defuse the walking bomb within. Keep it up!
